Gotcha!

Current use

The brief

Gotcha! began as a student project under Junior Achievement’s company programme — a party game built around a sharp idea: how easily meaning gets lost between what one person says and what another hears. The young team behind it, Alentar, had a genuinely good prototype and a strong competition result, but a competition deck is not a product. Boxes, rules, components and a route to real players were all still missing.

What we did

We treated the prototype the way we treat any title we publish:

  • Rules editing — tightening the wording so a brand-new group can open the box and play without a facilitator.
  • Component & box design — turning a paper prototype into manufacturable parts with the right feel at the table.
  • Production — managing print and assembly to a quality bar the game could be sold and reused at.
  • Go-to-market — positioning the finished game for the audiences who would actually use it.

The outcome

What started as a competition entry is now a real published game. Beyond its 2nd-place finish in Hong Kong and Asia-Pacific representation, Gotcha! found a second life in the social-welfare sector, where its empathy-and-miscommunication theme makes it a natural fit for communication training.

Note: exact print run / sales figures to be confirmed with the studio.

It is the clearest example of what we do best — seeing the title hiding inside a rough prototype, and doing the unglamorous production work that gets it onto real tables.
